Dr. Hamidreza Norouzi received the 2020 Scholar on Campus award!
In May 2020, Dr. Hamidreza Norouzi, Professor in the Department of Construction Management and Civil Engineering and Director of Undergraduate Research at the New York City College of Technology, received the Scholar on Campus Award. The Scholar on Campus award recognizes City Tech faculty who have demonstrated extraordinary scholarship and creative work that has had an important impact at City Tech and in the larger community. Due to the COVIS-19 pandemic, the ceremony was delayed.
Candidates were selected based on their scholarly excellence which is showcased through publications, performances, exhibits, external recognition and records of exceptional performance. Dr. Norouzi has displayed his dedication as a Professor, Director, and Mentor. As the Co-Director for the Center for Remote Sensing and Earth System Sciences (ReSESS), he has proudly mentored/co-mentored 2 post-doctoral researchers, 10 PhD and Masters students and more than 80 undergraduate students. He has multiple papers that were published in journals and presented his work at over 70 international and national conferences. Dr. Norouzi has been awarded several research grants from the Department of Defense (DoD), Army Research Office (ARO), National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Science Foundation (NSF), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Robin Hood Foundation, CUNY, and United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Most recently in 2022, Dr. Norouzi received a grant from the Department of Energy (DoE) to advance Earth and Environmental System Sciences research at an underrepresented institution alongside Dr. Reginald Blake and Dr. Akm Rahman of the New York City of Technology.
